Clinics

  • Ground cover techniques using static grass by John Feraca 
    This clinic will demonstrate how to apply and enhance static grass. Topics will include; material requirements, ground preparation, application, special effects, and how to create grass tufts.

  • Contemporary Layout Construction & Scenery by Joe Bux 
    A slide show presentation and actual sample clinic that examines around the wall layout design and construction, using adjustable tracks and brackets, salvaged hollow core doors, and rigid foam baseboard. Scenery materials include the use of Foamcore, Woodland Scenics Shaper Sheet, Sherpa fur fabric and plaster cloth.

  • Enhancing Operations on Your Layout by Mike Siegel 
    Among the topics to be discussed are handling of cars carrying "Hazmat", a one-track transfer facility, "contingency" cards, combined passenger trains, locomotive head end power characteristics, switching a car float, and switching corn syrup cars.

  • Weather Beacons (or Sticks) and How to Model One by Steve Perry 
    In part 1, Steve will demonstrate how to make a simple and inexpensive static grass applicator. 
    In part 2, he will discuss weather beacons (or weather sticks), what they are, and their purpose. Steve will show some examples and how he made one for his bank in Beckley.

General admission $5. Current NMRA members $3 (with NMRA card). Scouts in uniform, Spouses and children under 12 admitted free with paying adult.
